Integrative Bodywork

As a therapist, I honor the individuality & uniqueness of my clients which often requires different modalities of treatment.  Myofascial work is an invaluable tool for structural balance thus allowing the restrictions of the fascia to release , deepening contact with the musculature and assisting with realignment of the body.

My intention is to remove the physiological and energetic blockages that inhibit a peaceful and balanced flow of energy.  With this objective in mind, I apply my knowledge of various skills and modalities woven into bodywork that is gentle yet deep.  I integrate specific stretching techniques to lengthen and relax muscles and joint manipulations that promote greater mobility and fluidity.  I then balance the body's energy with the flow of "Esalen style" massage...long, flowing and nurturing strokes that release tension and create a feeling of wholeness...leaving the body resting in a peaceful harmonious state.  It is important to empower my clients with an awareness of their own self healing as well as provide an experience that is healing, therapeutic and deeply relaxing.

Energy Work

Every human being has the ability to sense the energy fields being transmitted by other human bodies.  Everything is energy...the physical body is energy as well as our emotions and beliefs.  It is a dance between the science of healing and the great mystery of healing.  As an energy sensitive therapist, by aligning with positive intentionality I can feel and influence the patterns and  frequency of vibration within the human energy field, thus facilitating balance which supports healing.  the human energy field is the matrix upon which cells of the physical body grow and is the template of the physical body.  the human energy field is of vital importance and is directly connected with health and illness.  what happens in the physical body, first happens in the patterns of the energy field.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of the tissue in the body.  This is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress due to misalignment, repetitive motions and past lingering injuries.  Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable.  Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that have been released from the tissues during the session.

Sports Massage & Injury Recovery Sports massage is the science and art of applying massage and related techniques/modalities to promote the health and well-being of athletes of all levels.  There are several major applications of sports massage as it relates to recovery, remedial rehabilitation, maintenance and the actual athletic event.  the intention in recovery is to assist the athlete in healing from the stress and strains of training and competition; remedial sports massage is the preventive medicine of conditions before they worsen.  Rehabilitation in sports massage will address injury healing; maintenance sessions focus on recovery and remedial applications.  Sports massage at events is helpful for the athlete to prepare for and recover from the event as well as enhance peak performance. Russian Massage Russian Massage is considered to be one of the most non-evasive and relaxing form of massage therapies.  It employs techniques such as petrissage, effleurage, friction and vibration to relieve pain and induce relaxation.  I use a combination of gentle stretching, kneading, gliding strokes and various rubbing and vibratory motions to massage the muscles and joints.  the relaxing effects of the massage are felt almost immediately.  Russian massage is beneficial in a wide number of situations including musculoskeletal imbalances, gastrointestinal problems, cardiovascular or neurological disorders.  It has been used to treat ailments such as arthritis, sprains and strains, TMJ, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic pains, rotator cuff injuries, colic disorders and disorders of the immune system.  It is also an excellent method of speeding up post-surgical recovery. This form of massage also helps to stimulate the circulation of blood and lymph and promotes the release of endorphins to activate the body's natural pain ameliorating system.  Russian massage is an excellent method of relieving stress and tensions to help relax, refresh and re-energize the body/mind.  Studies have shown that Russian massage can have a beneficial effect on atrophied muscles.  Proper treatment can also help to remove any restrictions in the joints and restore proper range of movement to the affected areas.  Due to its non-invasive and gentle nature, it is also idea for young children and the elderly.  It is also widely used in the field of professional sports to help in recovery from sports injuries and improve performance. Myofascial Release (MFR) MFR is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and re-balance the entire body.  It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones.  Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body.  Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work.  Indirect myofascial release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.
